Aisling Cliodhnadh O'Sullivan (born 16 March 1984) more popularly known as Aisling Bea, is a popular Irish actor, writer and comedian. Bea's career began in the year 2011 when she began her career as a comic following her appearance in a few roles for Irish and British television shows beginning in the year 2009. From 2012 on she was on sketch comedy shows or sitcoms. In 2012, following her was awarded an award at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards (ECA) in 2012, she began appearing frequently in panel programs. In 2016 through 2017, she served as the team captain on 8 Out of 10 Cats and is a frequent contestant on the sequel 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Parents were Brian and Helen O'Sullivan. She has an older sister named Sinead. In 2012 she was the first woman ever to win the So You Think You Are Funny Award. The surname of Bea is in honor of her late father. Aisling Claiodhnadh, born 16 March 1984 at Kildare, County Kildare. Bea's father Brian who was an equine vet who took his own life at the age of three when Bea turned three, was the suicide victim. She was told about his suicide only after thirteen years of age. Bea adopted the stage name Bea to pay tribute to her father. She also published an article in The Guardian in 2017 about her family's experience of suicide. Bea was fostered by her older sister Sinead and her mother Helen Moloney. Helen is a secondary teacher, jockey trainer and former professional racer. The family was obsessed with racing meetings and horses. Bea started out as tourist guides at Irish National Stud. But she realized her passion was for performing and not racing.
